MAJOR TECHNOLOGY UPGRADE CONTINUES.
Enhancements to our school's ICT learning tools this year have included;
- upgrade of school's wireless infrastructure, giving our school and Communty Room 100% wireless access.
- new scanners in all classrooms.
In the first term holidays all classrooms and shared work areas had older desktops and laptops replaced by new desktops and laptops. All networked computers now run Windows 7 and Office 2010, as well as a wide range of programs and applications to enhance the learning experience of our children.

Our school's involvement in the highly popular and successful Active After School Communities program will continue in 2012.
Term 2 2012's program will see hockey and tennis offered..
Free, voluntary, coached, seven weeks per term.
During our school's 3 year involvement in the program the activities our children have sampled have included soccer, basketball, netball, tae kwon do, touch football, athletics, tennis and circus skills. We aim to give our children as wide a range of sporting experiences as possible; maybe our next champions will discover skills and interests they didn't know they had! And for all, we want to encourage enjoyment of being active and social in sporting settings.

As you may know, there's a big
push for cybersafety at Annunciation so the theme for the 2011 ACMI Screen it
competition came naturally to students. The particular theme selected by
students was 'Respect' on the internet and they titled their animation 'Respect
on the Net!'
Children in grade 5/6 enjoyed the experience of creating an animation, made over their Tuesday lunch breaks for the last term and a half using a program called Kahootz3.
That’s dedication! The animation has been submitted to ACMI. (Fingers crossed.)
Now remember... Respect on the net!

You may have noticed that the school newsletter now contains hints and tips for helping your child to be cybersmart.
At Annunciation Primary School we value cybersafety and have a number of initiatives taking place.
These initiatives teach and encourage children to be cybersmart. They are called 'Hector's World' and 'SuperclubsPlus'.
'Hector's World' is for children at all primary levels and is produced by the Australian Government's website ACMA.

'SuperclubsPlus' is for children in grade 3-6 at Annunciation Primary School. The website is monitored all the time by mediators.
Children need their own password to access the site.

The internet offers huge opportunities for improvements in education, social interaction, innovation and entertainment. Along with these benefits come risks that can make the internet unpleasant and potentially dangerous. Cyberbullying, scams and fraud, offensive content and unwanted contact are all common risks for children and teenagers.
The Australian Government’s Cybersafety Help Button provides information and assistance on cybersafety issues for children as they explore all that the digital world has to offer.
